FAQs

Why are you doing CrossFit?
So I can be an active father a successful firefighter and maintain my health.
What got you started doing CrossFit?
A Friend of mine told me I should look at CrossFit.com back in 2007 and the workouts looked easy but absolutely kicked my butt.
Why do you stay with it?
Community, and it works!
We all have goals-what are you working towards?
Right now I'm trying to make small positive progress and not slide backward. I have made a few big changes in my day to day schedule which would make it easy to just back down and let myself go.
How long have you been doing Crossfit?
I've been doing Crossfit since 2007, but it wasn't until I opened CFA that I truly had the community.
How do you get through and what is the most difficult/frustrating WOD?
The ones that look easy!!! It's the simple ones that kill me 21-15-9 Thrusters and Pull-Ups? Easy but add intensity, and it hurts.
What workout really gets you excited when you walk into the box?
Joyfully Excited? Diane! Scared excited? Any workout that I've done and pushed really hard on and can remember how bad it hurt!
Your favorite CrossFit movement and your most dreaded CF movement?
Handstand Push-Ups, Overhead Squats, Snatches, Jerks. I loathe Deadlifts!
What eating plans do you follow and what is your typical "go to" meal/snack?
I've loosely done Zone for about eight years, and I've tried many other plans. Zone just makes sense to me. Right now I'm doing Whole 30 to get refocused on quality of food.
What is your favorite cheat?
Ice Cream or Nachos
What made you want to get your L1?
I wanted to learn more!
What certifications or specialties do you have? (CrossFit or Other, School sports played?)
Many! I'm kind of a seminar junky. Basically, if I'm going to teach it, I want to have been taught about it!
What kind of things do you see that you hope to help correct
I want to help improve people's day to day lives! If something I fix in the gym helps someone outside of the gym than that is the best!
What hobbies do you have?
Ummmm CrossFit! No, I Love being outdoors! Camping, Hiking, Anything.
What is your favorite color?
Blue
What do you do when you're not at CFA?
I spend my time split between family and my other job. I'm also a full-time Firefighter with Bangor Fire Department.
